Drumtochty Castle Wedding

To say I was excited when I received an enquiry from Amy & Ollie to be their wedding photogarpher at Drumtochty Castle is an understatement. Especially since we’ve known each other for many years. Funny part is – I would only realise that at the pre-wedding photoshoot!

Drumtochty Castle is a 1812, neo-gothic style castellated mansion. It sits approximately three kilometres northwest of Auchenblae, Aberdeenshire, Scotland. Photographing a wedding in a new venue is always a bit of a challenge. First of all because I spend a lot of time on top of my regular shooting pattern scouting the location and visualising the story. This way I know exactly what the finished story line is going to be and I can comfortably focus on building it throughout the day.

Safe to say, it took me a long time to get around the estate. Drumtochty Estate is a big place and St Palladius church, where the ceremony was to take place quite a walk away through the forest.

Cairn o’mount that we decided to use for wedding portraits is even further away! There’s nothing but positive side to that story.
