Brig o’ Doon House Wedding PhotographerThe Brig o’ Doon, sometimes called the Auld Brig or Old Bridge of Doon, is a late medieval bridge in Ayrshire, Scotland.

Situated within the historic village of Alloway, an area of outstanding natural beauty, Brig o’ Doon House Hotel has gained the reputation of being Ayrshire’s and possibly Scotland’s most iconic wedding venues. The impressive banqueting hall with its breath-taking views of the famous Brig o’ Doon immortalised in Robert Burns’ famous poem ‘Tam o’ Shanter’ make it a truly unique venue. For more information about Brig o’ Doon House Hotel, click here.

The wedding day // Ashley + Stefan

Ashley and Stefan got ready in two separate buildings just across the road from each other. Ashley and her lovely bridesmaids had champagne flowing at Doonbrae House. At the same time Stefan and his groomsmen wandered around Brig o’Doon House.

How surprised I was to find out that I had met one of the groomsmen – Chris, before. I photographed his wedding two years earlier at the amazing Dalduff Farm in Maybole, also in Ayrshire. What a small world!

After a very emotional ceremony in the grand ballroom we headed out for some photos outside. Even the weather couldn’t spoil the happiness and excitement for those two! Lucky for us after we hid in the house for some 20 minutes we had a few pockets of light outside. Long enough to even take an aerial photo of Ashley and Stefan on the Brig o’Doon. Once the portrait session was done we had plenty of time to go back in, listen to the speeches, relax over amazing food and wait for the dance.

Have I mentioned they really know how to party? My kind of people!
